Across the European Union, access to mobile broadband is improving citizens’ lives and increasing business productivity by providing access to information and services in real time with nearly ubiquitous coverage. The next wave of mobility will depend more than ever on a robust mobile industry empowered to invest in developing and deploying the advanced networks that will connect us intelligently to the communities and cities we live in, and in turn provide the platform for sustained growth and innovation across all industry sectors.

Against the backdrop of a Connected City exhibition, industry and policy leaders will explore how mobile communications infrastructure and services are transforming commerce across the single market, enabling public services in areas like health and transport, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the internal market.

While everyone is welcome, we strongly encourage the following to attend:

  • Representatives from the EU institutions
  • Senior-level mobile network operators
  • Public policy officials
  • Associations
  • Infrastructure vendors
  • Communications and regulatory agency representatives

Mobile 360 - Europe will be held in Brussels, Belgium at the Albert Hall Complex.

The GSMA Mobile 360 conference agenda will be accompanied by an industry showcase including mobile operators and technology innovators. The Showcase will allow delegates to explore first-hand how mobile communications infrastructure and services are transforming commerce across the single market, enabling public services in areas like health and transport, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the internal market.

Partners in the showcase include:

Since 2014, Proximus is the brand name of Belgacom SA on the Belgian market. The quality of its interconnected fixed and mobile networks makes Proximus the leading provider of all fixed and mobile voice, Internet, digital television, content and ICT services in Belgium. With its convergent offer, it allows customers anywhere and anytime access to what matters for them, whether consumers or enterprises. This is how Proximus contributes to the economic, social and environmental development of the society in which it is rooted. –

Telecom Italia

Telecom Italia operates as an advanced Service Provider that provides communications services associated with the capacity to process digital information and content.

My Data Store is a data vault where you can safely store all your valuable personal data, collected from your smartphone or created while accessing online and offline services. It transparently manages how different services can access, share or use your personal data in a privacy-preserving way. In 2013 My Data Store has been inserted among the top reference cases for Personal Data Store systems by the World Economic Forum. In the Exhibition area a demo of the Personal Data Store will be available.

Thin Film

Thin Film was the first company to commercialize printed rewritable memory and is now creating printed system products that will include memory, sensing, display, and wireless communication. Such integrated systems will make it possible to use electronic intelligence in applications where they have never before been affordable, even, for example, in disposable goods.

Also prominent in the showcase the GSMA will present key initiatives, how the mobile industry is working together to further areas such as Personal Data and Identity, Digital Commerce, Connected Living and IoT and future mobile networks. Not only will delegates understand key steps the industry is taking to further enhance the lives of citizens and businesses now and in the future, but they can also experience a number of live demonstrations of such technological advancements taking place in the industry. Demonstrations include:

  • A virtual journey through augmented reality to see the future of driver information, mobile entertainment, vehicle telematics and associated services, such as connected insurance, all powered by the GSMA Embedded SIM specification.
  • A truly native IP-based communication experience hosted by D2 Technologies and NewNet, who have teamed up to provide VoLTE calls, video-based calling and Rich Communication Services (RCS) via D2 Tech’s embedded IMS client integrated in the handset device.
  • A glimpse into what retailers and digital commerce may offer in the near future, through a SIM-based NFC API solution that turns your smartphone into a shopping assistant – a product developed in partnership with the GSMA, Orange France and Déjàmobile.
  • A look into the latest that mobile has to offer in online consumer authentication.  Mobile Connect is convenient and can help simplify the authentication process using a mobile phone.

The Mobile 360 – Europe conference will bring together industry and policy leaders to explore the opportunities mobile provides. The objective is to identify a common agenda and to examine how industry and policy makers can work in partnership to ensure that Europe maximises mobile’s contribution and realises its full potential to drive growth, competitiveness and job creation across all sectors of Europe’s single market.

8 December

13.00 – 13.45Opening Keynotes
Speakers include:

  • Andrus Ansip, Vice President for Digital Single Market, European Commission
  • Anne Bouverot, Director General, GSMA
  • Hans Vestberg, President & CEO, Ericsson

13.45 – 14.30Infrastructure Driving Growth in Europe

In the last few years, South East Asia and North America have taken the lead in deploying the advanced mobile networks that are enabling the incredible technology and service innovations we are seeing today. European markets need to accelerate the roll out of next generation mobile networks to maximise the significant benefits high quality ubiquitous access to the internet can bring to their constituents and economies. Governments, EU institutions and industry players will need to work together to develop regulatory policies that incentivise investment and sustain growth in the mobile space while safeguarding citizen and consumer rights, and ensuring that universal coverage obligations and digital inclusion goals are met.

In the opening session of the 2014 Mobile 360 – Europe  conference, leaders from the across the digital ecosystem will examine and discuss how the mobile industry can work to overcome existing obstacles to the deployment of mobile broadband and how to best position Europe to take a lead in the development of 5G technologies.

Speakers include:

  • Anne Bouverot, Director General, GSMA
  • Kjell-Morten Johnsen, EVP, Head of Europe, Telenor Group
  • Hans Vestberg, President & CEO, Ericsson
  • Roberto Viola, Deputy Director General of DG CONNECT, European Commission

14.50 – 15.50Building Trust in the Next Wave of Digital Services
Mobile technologies are playing a key role in stimulating innovation in digital services aimed at better addressing the needs of consumers, businesses and governments across the EU. Important and legitimate concerns over privacy and security however present significant obstacles in the development and uptake of more advanced and sophisticated digital services such as healthcare, finance and e-government . Resolving issues involving the ownership, sharing and commercialisation of personal data and online records will also be a key factor in determining the scope of the digital services industry. How can industry leaders work with governments to ensure citizens, businesses and service providers follow best practice measures to protect their online assets? Which emerging technologies will help best protect consumers, businesses and governments from future online threats? How can digital ID and authentication technologies help enhance online security and provide the mechanisms through which to deliver advanced digital services?

Speakers include:

  • Marco Patuano, CEO, Telecom Italia
  • Gary Kovacs, CEO, AVG Technologies
  • Dominique Leroy, CEO, Belgacom
  • Despina Spanou, Director for Consumer Affairs in DG SANCO, European Commission

16.10 – 17.10Seizing Europe’s Mobile Opportunity: The Partnership Agenda
The next wave in computing will see a vast array of connected devices leveraging the power of the network to intelligently and automatically manage countless processes and support new and exciting products and services. Although projections on the size of the opportunity certainly vary, there is a universal acceptance that the current economic and regulatory frameworks cannot support the full potential of the “Internet of Things”. While some verticals are already embracing and benefiting from digital and mobile technologies, many sectors remain constrained in their ability to invest in scaling these solutions in a sustainable way. Identifying and resolving technological and regulatory barriers will require a high level of cross industry collaboration, and a new approach to developing policies that can keep pace with the changing requirements of this rapidly evolving space. The final session of the Mobile 360 – Europe  conference will draw on the outcomes of the previous sessions to provide an insight into the future of the Connected Life.

Speakers include:

  • Mário Campolargo, Director for Net Futures in DG CONNECT, European Commission
  • Bob Bunnik, Head of Group Strategy & Competitive Intelligence, Tele2 Group
  • Kai Leppanen, VP, Thin Film

Thought leaders and industry experts from the most influential companies within the expanding mobile value chain will address the most important topics in mobile through visionary keynote presentations, thought-provoking interviews and interactive panel discussions.
